I'm not your best friend

I’m sending you this note because I like to call you “friend”.
And sharing of my life and love with you is what friends do.
I so enjoy our times together — wish they’d never end —
You bring delight and comfort, understanding, pleasure, too.
I offer all I can to show the fullness of my care,
And, if you falter, I’m distressed, and crave to help you out.
My savvy, wealth, or muscle can sometimes whack despair,
But often more is needed, someone powerful with clout.

God sent his Son named Jesus because he’d like to call us “friend”.
And sharing of his life and love with you is what God does.
He so enjoys our prayers with him — he likes those with no end.
We are his loved creation, and we delight him just because.
He offers all that is to show the fullness of his care,
And, if you falter, he waits by and craves to help you out.
His infinite resources can always whack despair,
For Jesus is who’s needed, someone powerful with clout.
